BIOGRAPHY
Born

Residence
Berlin, Germany
Stefan Hoenerloh was born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1960.
1979 he studied art and was scholar of Peter Ackermann at the Academy of Arts in Karlsruhe and further 1980 with Andreas Franzke before he moved to Berlin. There he continued at the Free University Berlin to study art history, philosophy, music science and German literature. Hoenerloh travelled quite a lot as an artist and stayed for several times in Rome, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco. For his studies of ‘natural architecture of erosion’ he stayed eight times in Utah and Arizona (1994-2010) to depict the canyons. In the year 2000 Hoenerloh established his studio in a weaving mill on the Peninsula Stralau, nearby Berlin, before he started 2007 with a new project: remodelling the Pistorius 96 Factory at the Weissensee college of art in Berlin.
Stefan Hoenerloh not only works as a painter experiencing various techniques during his artistic oeuvre, he also frequently worked with video and film, i.e. together with Bünck & Fehse on the computer-generated short movie ‘The Art of Instant Seduction’ or in 2008 on a project that employs a flying camera through the Paria-canyon. Further he creates prints in small editions.
