Description
Beatrice de Jong, born in 1956 in Amersfoort, The Netherlands, graduated from Amsterdam University for Fine Arts in 1988 and then attended Gerrit Rietveld Fine Arts Academy for painting and sculpting.

In winter and spring 1990, Beatrice gathered impressions from extended travels in America for a series of paintings she later created.
Subsequently, Beatrice journeyed to Russia for a study of Russian culture. There she viewed the major exhibits at the Russian museums and studied the development of icons in countless chapels and Kremlins.

Central themes in her work are the landscape, water and water flora and female figures. She creates an abstract expressionist art in which themes are approached from varying perspectives. With an exceptional sense of color, fed from childhood through her close connection with nature, she knows how to create space and perspective by means of colored surfaces. The landscapes in particular are mixed and intertwined, expressing movement by dissecting it in successive phases. In addition to her painting work, she is engaged in metal sculptures and painted ceramics, including large tile panels.
